Little Red Riding Hood.

Edgar Tijtgat (1879-1957) is one of my favourite Belgian artists;
I love his deceptively innocent style and there's
always a longing for the lost paradise expressed in his work.
These woodcuts come from 'Le Petit Chaperon Rouge', also
the entire text and endleaves are printed from woodblocks!
The photo below is Tijtgat in his doorway and his wife Blanche
leaning out of the window. don't know why
the entrance is 1 metre above the ground :-)
I think they were a strange but funny and happy couple,
at least that's the way they look.
Pop over to jokemijn for more abandoned houses.

Happy weekend everybody!

Gaf mij altijd enorme inspiratie.

  4. How interesting- the whole look is a little odd but pleasing nonetheless-a very individual approach isn't it- very refreshing- I have been looking at Kiki Smith's work lately and found this quite beautiful(even if a bit controversial like all her work)print of the little red riding hood at a moma site about her prints. 8. the house is truly intriguing and not just because of the unusually high door... and those illustrations, wow... there's something about the patterns and colours, so vibrant but mysterious at the same time (like the house)
